About

Contributions of Physics in the fields of Biology & Medicine in the last years are providing true quantitative understanding of the physical mechanisms that regulate life. The continuous development of novel techniques for the visualization of dynamic processes at the molecular and nanoscale levels coupled to new theoretical models are resulting in a paradigm shift in the way we approach Biology nowadays. Importantly, Physics is strongly contributing to our understanding of diseases and multiple strategies are continuously emerging for their diagnoses and effective treatment.

The Physics in Biology & Medicine 2022 workshop aims at bringing together experts and younger researchers working in related fields, to discuss very recent developments in the context of:

Biophysical tools & analysis: Super-resolution microscopy, cryoTEM, AFM, image analysis tools (machine learning)…
Physical Biology: Compartmentalization in living cells (space & time); cell & tissue mechanics; non-equilibrium phenomena in biology; active matter…
Systems Biology: Collective phenomena; physics of the heart and brain; neuronal networks; biophysics in cancer; metabolic and signaling networks…
Medical diagnosis and treatment: Nanotechnology for diagnosis, imaging and therapy; photonics for non-invasive medical imaging; light as a minimally invasive therapeutic agent…
Role of Physics in Public Health: Physics of complex systems in infectious diseases, network analysis of public health…
